As the country prepares for formal instruction on a phased lifting of restrictions put in place for COVID-19, we foresee that, for many organisations, it will not be ‘business as usual’ for some time.
It would be naive of us to think that things will simply just go back to normal and as business leaders we are challenged to understand how to best respond and plan for the new era of work.
For some organisations, the COVID period has changed the way they operate, perhaps permanently, with many businesses looking to remote options to increase efficiencies. This means that we will see a step change in the recruitment industry, and remote recruitment and onboarding will become increasingly the norm.
With greater utilisation of recruitment and business technology such as Webonboarding, Odro, Skype, MS Teams and Slack, during this period of lockdown we have continued to effectively support many clients with their recruitment requirements. COVID-19 has given us the chance to explore the full potential of these tools and we will use this insight to inform how we support our candidates and clients going forward.
One of our biggest learnings during this time has been the success of remote onboarding, beneficial for companies with employees in multiple branches in different locations, or who have workers, as we’ve experienced recently, working from home.
During lockdown we’ve partnered with Webonboarding to deliver a great experience, from offer through to early employment, without being in the office. The cloud-based solution revolutionises a manual employee onboarding processes by automating between recruitment, HR and the onboardee to deliver a seamless, remote employee onboarding process.
From the point of offer to start date Webonboarding is an engaging way to remotely manage, communicate and exchange documents with your new hires and ensure all internal processes are complete. The system boosts engagement by reducing dropouts and increases efficiency by getting new hires into roles sooner.
With a great initial onboarding experience, the new employee is engaged and activated through a streamlined process which negates the need for first day presentations and masses of paperwork. New hires can sign and confirm roles, check start dates and key information using their mobile phones. The overall onboarding processing times can be cut down from weeks to days.
Kinnerton Confectionary have used Webonboarding to solve challenges arising from rapid business growth. As a growing company, with more than 1,000 employees across six sites, Kinnerton were finding it increasingly challenging to effectively manage new hires using a traditional paper-based approach. The switch to Webonboarding means the whole process is now managed via an online portal, allowing incoming employees to instantly access paperwork and to sign documents digitally.
“We can now send out a contract to somebody on a Friday and have everything signed, completed and ready for them to start on a Monday morning." Lisa Barker, HR Business Partner, Kinnerton Confectionery
By using tools like Webonboarding and Odro we’re opening ourselves to a wealth of opportunity – challenges around location, working hours and other commitments are minimised, allowing greater flexibility and efficiency for both candidates and clients.
Our experience of creating agile, bespoke solutions, using innovative tech and a thorough understanding of the market has allowed us to guide existing and new clients through current challenges, and help candidates find new opportunities. By harnessing new technology and different ways of thinking, these solutions will pay dividends for clients and candidates alike, during and beyond COVID-19.
