Communications Manager (Marketing)

Fixed Term Contract 18-24 months

Location - South Yorkshire

Salary - £45k plus annual bonus and benefits

Based in Doncaster, the Communications Manager is a key role in supporting internal colleagues through communications during a large transformational change programme.

The role holder will work closely with the internal Marketing team, Projects and Leadership teams to tactically deliver the marketing communications strategy for the programme. The role holder will manage, design and deliver all programme and project communications, across all channels and mediums, ensuring they fit within the agreed strategy and our internal comms framework and are in line with our internal brand and tone of voice.

A creative approach to communications with a sound understanding of business change and the types of communications activities that are needed in businesses during transformational change. The role holder will have a passion for good communication, enjoy writing communications and will have a good eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create an annual plan/schedule of communications, based on the programme and project plans at hand
  • Effectively manage the marketing budget for the internal programme and project comms, alongside the Programme Director and Project Managers, reporting monthly on activity and spend including variances to plan.
  • Design and deliver all programme and project related communications, across multiple channels and mediums working day to day with key programme and project personnel to help construct and agree the messaging needed for identified audiences
  • Ensure all communications are timely and relevant – there should be consistency in all messaging and alignment to our purpose and strategy
  • Coordinate the scheduling all communications at programme and individual project level with the Programme Director and Project Managers
  • Work closely with the Marketing Communications Manager on the scheduling of the programme and project communications alongside BAU communications
  • Chair the weekly Communications Forum and retain overall ownership
  • Support the Director of Product and Marketing and the Programme Director in delivering the programme communication's strategy

  • Design and deliver all programme and project related communications, across multiple channels and mediums working day to day with key programme and project personnel to help construct and agree the messaging needed for identified audiences
  • Ensure all messaging is pre-agreed and approved
  • Ensure all communications are timely and relevant – there should be consistency in all messaging and alignment to our purpose and strategy.
  • Coordinate the scheduling all communications at programme and individual project level with the Programme Director and Project Managers
  • Work closely with the Marketing Communications Manager on the scheduling of the programme and project communications alongside BAU communications
  • Chair the weekly Communications Forum and retain overall ownership
  • Work with the internal Graphic Designer, or external agencies where needed, to ensure all programme or project communications are designed to be ‘on brand'?
  • Use communications to help the Executive Committee, and the programme and projects continue to drive culture change?
  • Design and implement a measurement dashboard for the programme and project communications and report on the performance and effectiveness of all activity monthly?
  • Stay abreast of changes within the marketing communications environment. Propose changes which could offer new communication channels or better ways to communicate with colleagues?
  • Be the ‘voice of the programme' as well as a key point of contact for all programme and project related queries?
  • Live and breathe the company values and develop effective relationships across the business, with a focus on sales and operations and BAU internal communications

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • A passionate, results driven communications professional who has a creative talent and loves to write
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentational skills
  • Tenacious and willing, can be ‘hands-on' as required to get the job done
  • Marketing experience within financial services background
  • Experience of working within a large programme delivery in a portfolio environment.
  • Significant knowledge of business change management framework approaches
  • Experience of working with Senior and Leadership teams
  • Experience of delivering engaging internal and external communications across a variety of channels including internal social intranets
  • Advanced knowledge of PowerPoint to create presentations
  • Experience of delivering engaging employee events
  • Experience of reporting on activity performance
  • Matrix management experience (e.g. with project teams, external suppliers and marketing agencies) with the ability to manage up and across the line
  • Be able to work under pressure and commit to deadlines.
  • An eye for detail
  • Must be proactive and flexible, taking ownership of tasks and always seeking to add value wherever possible
