DevOps Engineer (Windows, .Net, C#)

Location - West Yorkshire

Salary – up to £46k plus bonus and benefits

Profile

You'll be working with a varied Windows Server environment, multiple .NET Framework applications and Team Foundation Server 2018 for Build and Release Management.

The DevOps team are responsible for maintaining and improving our environments in order to meet continuously changing business needs.

This role offers exciting challenges around developing an automated deployment process to varied environments, evolving package management strategy and establishing monitoring and feedback mechanisms.

You will be the primary interface for our Application Developers, liaising with the Technical Services teams to manage the maintenance and provisioning of Development, UAT and Production environments.

You'll also work alongside the IT security team to ensure environments meet auditing, security and legislative standards.

Role Responsibilities

  • Advise and assist development teams with configuring their build definitions in TFS
  • Design & Develop mechanisms to manage and work with UAT and Development application data, keeping current legislation and security concerns in mind
  • Work alongside Application Developers and Application Architects to contribute towards environmental design for new projects
  • Work directly with the Application Architects to test system integrity
  • Design and implement build, deployment, and configuration management
  • Build and test automation tools for infrastructure configuration
  • Manage current UAT and Development Environments alongside the application teams
  • Monitor metrics and develop ways to improve reporting and feedback
  • Provide technical guidance and educate team members on processes and operations
  • Put forward new ideas and ways to improve development delivery
  • Build, maintain, and monitor configuration standards in conjunction with Application Architects
  • Document and design team processes; update existing processes
  • Improve infrastructure configuration development and application environment development
  • Implement or manage third party application upgrades and patching
  • Liaise with other Technical Teams to resolve support issues

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in development and/or operations, or related IT, computer, or operations field
  • Microsoft Team Foundation Server knowledge – 2012-2018
  • Previous experience with software development, infrastructure development, or development and operations
  • Up-to-date on latest industry trends; able to articulate trends and potential clearly and confidently
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
  • Meticulous, thorough and organised approach to work
  • Able to multitask, prioritise, and manage time efficiently
  • Willingness to work occasionally outside of normal business hours
  • A results orientated individual who thrives working in a fast paced environment
  • Scripting such as Powershell, JavaScript, PHP, Python, Perl, Ruby, .NET
  • Experience with Windows .NET Application Stack
  • Windows Server Experience
  • MS SQL Server Experience - 2012 onwards
  • Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) tool and process familiarity
  • Degree in computer science or a related field or a combination of related experience and education
  • Agile workflow methodologies experience, such as Scrum, Kanban and SAFe
  • Experience with DynaTrace
  • Familiar with GDPR, PCI and FCA legislative regulations
