Engineering Design Manager
Location - Leeds
Salary - up to £70k plus benefits

We have an exciting opportunity for a Engineering Design Manager, working in the Technology department, reporting to the Head of Engineering, the Engineering Design Manager will play a critical role in leading, managing and developing the Design team to enable them to deliver our clients internal technology strategy.

In this high-profile role, youll take ownership of your function and work collaboratively with other Engineering and Operations teams. Youll use your experience to share and help define best practice, and ensure that the end-to-end architect, design and build of our infrastructure is industry leading and world class.

Youll have overall responsibility for providing governance on the selection of technology and the design of our clients internal Core and Access networks and Cloud Infrastructure in an agreed architectural framework with the objective of optimising costs and functionality.

You will be an experienced and highly effective team manager, used to working with Engineers in an IT related field, and able to support the governance of robust design and technology selection processes. In this role, you will be accountable for ensuring that your team designs high performing, reliable and scalable infrastructure to further differentiate us in the service provider market.

Your Skills and Experience

* People leadership experience with a track record of inspiring and motivating technical teams to work together in pursuit of a shared vision.
* An effective people management background with the ability to identify individual needs, concerns and issues and deal with them empathetically and effectively, including the ability to manage performance and conflict.
* The ability to build a team who take responsibility and accountability as a group rather than focusing primarily on individual performance or a "can do" mentality.
* Extensive experience working in a technical environment so that you can facilitate effective technical discussions and planning sessions and to validate and challenge constructively the recommendations of the engineers. The technologies deployed by the team include:
o Hyper converged, virtualized infrastructure and IAAS platforms
o Linux and Windows servers, Shared hosting, email, VOIP, SIP
o Data backup technologies, for our own use and for customer use
o Core IP, Telecoms experience and MPLS IPVPN infrastructure
o Tools and applications to provide monitoring and assurance on our services
o Tools and applications to provide automation and orchestration on our services
