My client a leading company based in Sheffield are searching Juniper Network Engineer to be a Resident Engineer. This is a highly technical role, providing post-sales on-site support for Juniper Networks Products.

Key Responsibilities:

On-site technical support to the customer may Include:

  • Providing implementation and technical support of networking products (routers and switches) in WAN and LAN environments, coupled with extensive knowledge of SDN (Software Defined Networking).
  • Design and information gathering workshops with the customer to understand the customer's existing network design and technical requirements of new network designs;
  • Testing of new features and functionality required by the customer in a laboratory environment and to implement and verify that they are operating correctly in the live network;
  • Test patches and fixes to operating software and to ensure that they are implemented and functioning correctly in the live network;
  • Troubleshoot equipment and network problems assisting JTAC with technical cases through to problem resolution;
  • Perform network optimisation and configuration reviews;
  • To produce a written summary report of the status of equipment and network problems on a regular basis to the customer;
  • To assist the customer to develop Network Operating and Equipment Operating Procedures;

Key Skills Required:

  1. Juniper Networks Technical Certifications: JNCIP or JNCIE;
  2. Previous experience in network design, installation and deployment with MX, NFX, EX, QFX, PTX, in a Service Provider or large enterprise environment;
  3. A detailed understanding of the protocols surrounding IP/SDN service provider networks. These skills should include:
    1. TCP/IP fundamentals
    2. SDN, Contrail networking
    3. OpenStack, IaaS
    4. Routing protocol operation (OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, RSVP, IPv6, and BGP)
    5. VPNs and the associated tunneling technologies (MPLS, VXLAN, GRE, etc.)
    6. SDN overlays and EVPN based solutions
  1. Experience in the installation and operation of switches and IP routers. This includes hands-on operation of management tools and network analyzers;
  2. Strong experience in troubleshooting complex issues both at the device-level and network-level, in a multi-vendor environment. Able to isolate and identify configuration, design and product issues;
  3. Comfortable with Linux or other UNIX implementations, with scripting skills;
  4. Experience with DevOps tools and technologies - Ansible, Jinja2, Heat, Docker, Kubernetes, Github
