Platform Engineer

The Bridge IT are working with a national financial organisation based in Bradford to recruit a Platform Engineer.

As a Platform Engineer you will provide senior support for Infrastructure and Operations Services delivery and management of relevant software and systems, whilst providing consultancy to wider organisation on implementation of relevant technologies.

Role Responsibilities

  • Work on (Oracle & Open-source) Middleware
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd line support services on a 24 x 365 on call basis for elements of the associated application technology stack across all development, testing and business critical production environments.
  • Develop, maintain and provide IT capacity and performance management services across the associated technology stack, including patching and security implementations
  • Identify and implement automation and orchestration where appropriate to improve the quality of work. Systemising the predictable to be able to focus on the exceptional.
  • Provide appropriate consultancy services to other Group Projects & IT teams, Business Users

Key Skills

  • Experience working in a DevOps type role and using tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, Git, Python and API Client
  • An understanding of Red Hat Enterprise Linux Systems Administration (RHEL 7/8)
  • Knowledge of web-tier technologies or an application server in a complex IT environment
  • Knowledge of software and scripting languages including Python and underlying Software Development Kits and Application Programming Interfaces which provide automation capability for manual build/deployment activities
  • IT System Performance Monitoring/Tuning and Capacity management would be desirable but not essential
  • Nice to have but not essential, experience with Oracle technologies
