My client a Leading company based in Redhill are searching for a Principal Software Engineer (Java) to design and implement new functionality for the back-office software systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide expertise in meetings and workshops to establish scopes of work
  • Produce sub-system requirements for the back-office components based on a given set of user and system requirements
  • Estimate the time needed to complete the design and implementation of the required functionality
  • Produce detailed technical specifications for the software to be developed
  • Ensure the design meets all relevant sub-system requirements of the project
  • Implementation and Testing
    • Implement and test the functionality using Unit Tests and continuous integration
    • Create and maintain documentation as required
    • Participate in project gateways and meetings as required
    • Provide technical assistance and advice to other engineering functions within Cubic such as Test
    • Adhere to the project timescales and deadlines
    • Install new software to the Test and Production Environments, which may fall outside normal working hours

Key Skills and Experience Required:

  • Solid Java/J2EE experience
  • Experience using:
    • Spring framework
    • RESTful APIs
    • Apache Kafka
    • Apache Tomcat
    • Oracle RDBMS experience (table design, stored procedures, query optimisation etc.)
    • Gradle
    • Jenkins
    • JUnits
