Systems Engineer

Location - North Yorkshire (remote working options available post COVID)

Salary - £30 - 35k plus excellent benefits

Here at Bridge IT we have an exciting opportunity to join our leading client based in York, where you will be designing, building and running complex and high-profile Internet and connected platforms.

Role responsibilities;

  • Working within a small team to build and support complex server, database and cloud infrastructures in both green and brown field environments, following design documentation and industry best practices
  • Collaborating with colleagues to quickly and efficiently expedite the resolution of any issues encountered, doing so in a logical and methodical manner
  • Work pro-actively in the management and monitoring of customer environments to prevent issues and outages happening in the first place
  • Flexibility in your approach to work and be a team player, where everyone pitches in to get the job done
  • Dealing professional with customers directly

To be successful you will need;

  • Strong Linux skills and Microsoft skills and be comfortable working on both platforms
  • Knowledge and experience of databases such as MySQL, MS SQL, PSQL and Oracle is desired
  • You should be competent with TCP/IP networking and able to analyse and troubleshoot networking issues alongside dedicated network engineers
  • Experience in supporting multiple tier architectures
  • Knowledge of web hosting platforms such as Apache/IIS is desired
  • Good experience of scripting/programming skills e.g. shell scripts, Powershell, Ruby, Bash & Python
  • Familiar with virtualisation platforms high availability solutions and load balancing, such as VMWare, clustering, VTMs, HAProxy
  • You will need to have experience in supporting hardware such as servers and SAN/NAS devices
  • Skills in public, private and hybrid clouds would be beneficial
