We have an exciting opportunity to work with a high-profile client based in North Yorkshire. As a Technical Architect to join their internal architecture team, within their Shared Services CIO Group. The CIO group provide shared technology services that support other internal Group's business units, and in turn their customers, and works with technology partners to ensure they can provide the most innovative solutions. The CIO group is home to their technology practices for public cloud, and specialist technology consultancy services.

The successful candidate will be passionate about technology, not be afraid to push the boundaries, challenge the status quo, and radiate enthusiasm that is infectious and influential to their customers. You'll need to be confident speaking and presenting to all levels.

Role responsibilities

  • Have Microsoft Azure experience/working knowledge
  • Group architecture team, develop and deliver cloud-first service offerings built around Microsoft technology
  • Engage with people in technical roles around the company to share knowledge and develop ideas for modern, innovative solutions
  • Maintain strong internal relationships with operations and delivery teams, sharing customer feedback and providing domain expertise
  • Participate in or lead customer engagements, covering technical pre-sales, design, and delivery
  • Build strong customer relationships, helping them come to well-informed decisions on technical strategy and architecture
  • Identify business opportunities with new or existing customers
  • Regular travel will be required

Your skills and experience

  • A passion for technology and good awareness of trends in cloud computing
  • Proven experience in an architecture or equivalent role
  • Demonstrable experience acting as a key role in the full life cycle of large-scale architecture projects from pre-sales consultancy, planning and designing, through to implementation and handover into operational support
  • Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Server and Cloud technologies with expertise in Microsoft Azure technologies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with the principles of DevOps, and their application to teams and platforms
  • Strong scripting / coding skills enabling automation, configuration management, Infrastructure as Code, and use of APIs
  • Sets and insists on the highest standards - and continually improves
  • Demonstrates passion in technical work, and seeks to learn more
